Talks and Events

There will be talks and seminars taking place in Southwell Minster Cathedral during the Masters of Vision Exhibition. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced photographer, we are sure you will enjoy what we have planned.

 

On the opening day of Saturday 30th July you can come along and meet some of the photographers behind Masters of Vision - they will be present and happy to chat about their photography and offer advice to photographers interested in advancing their own photography.

A great chance to get some first class feedback on your images, your image making process and to seek advice on any photographic subject, be it a career, equipment, software, techniques or concepts. Bring 5-10 images either in print or digital format (USB stick or CD). Sessions will last 35 minutes.

Come and meet some of the photographers behind Masters of Vision.

On the opening morning, some of the exhibiting photographers will be at the Minster to talk to you about their photography and give tips on how you can improve your own photography. Whether you're a complete beginner, or an experienced photographer, come and have a chat.

World famous travel and landscape photographer David Noton will be headlining this year’s Masters of Vision Exhibition at Southwell Minster.  As part of this biennial celebration of photography, David’s ‘Chasing the Light’ show will showcase in the Minster on Saturday 30th July (8.30pm start).

 

The Chasing the Light show, which has previously sold out in many towns and cities across the UK, takes guests on an inspirational ‘round the world’ trip using the latest full HD projection, photography, satellite imaging, music and film sequences. 

The show includes David’s latest unpublished photographs, video clips from shoots around the world, the stories behind some of his most iconic images and of course, all delivered with David’s unique sense of humour.   The show is a ‘must see’ for anyone interested in photography, travel and adventure.  For full details and to buy tickets online visit www.davidnoton.com  

 

After the show David will also be doing a book signing for his latest book Full Frame and there will be a range of merchandise on sale including both DVDs ‘Chasing the Light’ and ‘Photography in the Raw’.   Personalised copies of both of David’s books will be available.

Damien Demolder will lead the discussions on pictures submitted by the participants, so you can get advice on your own image and listen in on the advice given to others facing the same problems, dilemmas and sticking points as you. It will be fun, informative and, most importantly, inspirational.

Essential Software Routines Masterclass

damien demolderWhatever you know, think you know or simply don't know this masterclass, presented by Amateur Photographer Damien Demolder, will give you a firm grounding in the proper use of primary software tools, such as Levels, Curves, Layers, colour control and sharpening, and will set you up with concrete routines for processing your digital photographs.

These aren't skills that will make your pictures looked worked on, but which will help you to bring out the best from whatever your camera has captured. The class will last two hours, including a Q&A session.
