Jonathan
Horrocks is a landscape photographer living in Epsom. Originally born
and raised in Northumberland he spent many of his teenage years in an
area that is a favourite for most landscape photographers in the
country. He spends his spare time trying to capture the beauty of the
British Isles, with a particular interest in coastal photography. His
work has been published in a number of books and magazines, as well as
featuring in an exhibition at the National Theatre on London’s
Southbank."Photography is a wonderful combination of science and art, which appeals to
me because of my mathematical background. I have always had a love of the
British landscape from growing up in Northumberland and many happy family
holidays spent in the Lake District, Scotland and especially Cornwall. I aim
to try and capture all of the wonder, peace and beauty that these places
evoke in me.
The images I have chosen for this exhibition, are from some of my favourite
parts of the UK. I am inspired to take many different views, from
conventional big vistas, to more intimate details but each image is an
attempt to distil all my thoughts and feelings about a moment and a place
into the final print. I don't always strive for a purely visually realistic
photograph; using optics, exposure and post processing creatively to try and
convey all the senses and emotions of a particular location at a particular
time."
